The following article will be appearing in today's issue of IDS News, published weekly by Human Resources and Communications.

The Raytheon Employees Wildlife Habitat Committee's (REWHC) nestbox monitoring team has completed its 2002 monitoring season -- and is happy to report that it was quite a success! Of the 21 birdhouses on campus -- built by local Boy Scouts and installed during the last three Earth Day celebrations -- 19 were used by bird families this summer to raise their young. The final breakdown of healthy fledglings: 10 tree swallows, 15 black-capped chickadees, and 32 house wrens. Not too shabby! If you have a free moment, you definitely want to check out pictures of some of those beautiful baby birds . . . you won't believe just how cute they are! To view them, go to the REWHC web site at http://rewhc.org/cgi-bin/imagefolio/imageFolio.cgi?direct=Zone1_Meadow_Fields. You can also download the monitoring team's full report, which was submitted to the Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC), and see how this monitoring season compared to last year's. The report is available at http://rewhc.org/downloads/nbm_2002_REWHC.pdf . For more information about REWHC's activities on the Portsmouth campus, or if you are interested in starting a chapter at your location, contact Beth Tracy, REWHC Chairperson, at 401.842.4321.
