A Committee's Report 1857

  Report of the Committee of the Portsmouth Asylum 1:

To the Hon "bl Town Council to be holden on the second Monday of March AD 1857 The Subscriber would respectfully Report That there has been 17 persons maintained at the Asylum for the 3 months last past, with the exception of an Irish woman and 4 children who were there about 14 weeks. I would further report that has not been any person confined by chain in that time but three has been confined in the out house occasionally nights
